Escape Velocity gave me a great framework to laser focus on and so much more – exposure to an amazing community with writers of all levels, direct access to pros, and confidence that I CAN do this despite what everyone else is telling me IRL. Seriously thank you so so much."
-Leah Luong
It was a great experience.
Plus learning with fellow students and seeing their progress really inspired me to take action."
-Saad Sakho
Thank you for everything in Escape Velocity. I have spent a lot of money on ‘getting ready to get ready’ and I can honestly say that I have never felt such depth of knowledge and so much passion for launching people as I felt from this program.
I’ve also had some great Zoom calls with other EV members too! The positive attitude is deep with these peeps.”
-Lisa Perk
In Escape Velocity, I got a client that nearly replaced my monthly corporate salary. The difference is I achieved it working about 20 hours a week, instead of 60 hours a week like I did at my corporate job!
-Anna Iveson
My first client came directly from Escape Velocity. He said he liked the posts and feedback I was giving, and he wanted to hire me. That one job paid for Escape Velocity!
-Josh Bowen
Freelancing is such an echo chamber sometimes, especially at the outset of your career. The EV community was *so* valuable for support, accountability, and to bounce ideas off of.
-Jess Torrance
The EV group has been such an inspiration and motivation. There’s so much spirit and drive here. Not to mention the feedback, ideas and wealth of talent that helps me grow as a copywriter. I didn’t know how to balance my life before EV. Now I feel like I have a plan. EV helped me narrow down a speciality so I can focus my learning and practice. I figured out through EV how to leverage my previous experience to create real value for my own freelance business and the skills I offer my clients.
-Annie Aaroe
"The community at Copy Chief and Escape Velocity are both amazing and nurturing and unselfish. Qualities that are often promised, but rarely delivered.
I'm new to copywriting, but have always been self-employed. It was refreshing to hear about focusing on the Money Skills, rather than a kind of amorphous copying copy approach to success.
A big takeaway for me was ditching the dozens of copy advisors in my Inbox, realizing that everything that I need is right here.
Thank you for this program and amazing community. This place that feels like home."
-Arnie Davidson
"There is no better place to be, and no better
people to be around for this journey, than Copy Chief, Escape Velocity, and everyone here."
-Carl Ashton
"I've purchased other freelancing courses in the past and my aha moment with Escape Velocity was that I don't need to write long-form sales letters. I can start with my specialty (email) and still earn good money."
-Fotis Chatzinicolaou
"I tested your approach to cold email proposals a few hours ago and got one response from a media buyer already. And I only contacted 5 people. My mind is blown."
-Tom Hammaker
What’s It Cost?
The enrollment fee for Escape Velocity is $999. That includes lifetime access to the lessons and resources in your personal training dashboard, the real-world homework assignments, and a 30-day “all access pass” to the Copy Chief Community.
In the Community forum you’ll get ongoing accountability and coaching from working pros to help you through the program.
To be clear, this program is not for everyone.
I want to make sure you’re investing in the program for the right reasons.
A lot of times I speak to freelancers who aren’t ready to invest in themselves and their business. They want to wait until they ALREADY have clients.
But the way I see it, you’ve got 2 options:
Option #1 – You can go off on your own and keep doing what you've been doing so far, hoping it all clicks for you without any guidance...
And in my 14+ years in the biz, I've seen freelancers take as long as 7 years to land a good client. Not for lack of effort, of course. But just because they’re repeating the same stuff that didn't work for them, thinking it'll "work out eventually.”
Or you can take Option #2 – Having a seasoned guide lead you step-by-step through a proven system that’s worked for thousands of freelancers in the past.
If you’re committed to making this a priority in your life, then Escape Velocity can shave years off the typical learning curve to landing your first clients and owning your new life as a professional copywriter. It can help you shortcut that huge, difficult process.
But only if you’re ready to take the leap and truly commit to making your freelance skills work for you.
That’s why Escape Velocity is made for go-getters. People who “get it” and who are truly ready to commit and make their freelance business a success.
Is that you?
The feedback inside of Escape Velocity was so helpful. I learned to feel confident in what I knew instead of worrying about what I didn’t know. It eliminated a lot of my imposter syndrome. Plus, I don’t worry about getting clients anymore. What I learned inside Escape Velocity, stacked on top of the support this network gives each other, I know I’ll always be able to get work. When prospecting, I’m sending out fewer inquiries than I used to, but they are so much better, and they get results.
Escape Velocity is brilliant. Everything I’m learning is important – a lot of it is usually only learned with painful trial and error.I know the answers I’m learning are THE answers. It's like dress rehearsal is over, and you're building your future life. Since starting EV, I've been asked for a portfolio from a local agency and been approached for a few new jobs. And I'm handling it much, much better.
-Pete Fadeyev
"With Escape Velocity, I shifted from finding out about copy, (listening to podcasts, reading books, hoarding emails). – To writing and getting feedback. I also found clarity – Choosing one money skill and narrowing my focus helped me a lot.
Having great teachers was the fuel, but seeing everybody get their feet wet was just as inspiring."
-Paul Tolhurst
"I just wanted to tell you that Copy Chief & Escape Velocity have been life-changing for me. I am putting in my 2 weeks notice today - bye bye boring day job!"
-Sammy Musgrave
"This was the kick in the pants I needed! I joined Escape Velocity for the accountability, the coaching, and the “workshop” aspect. Being able to have a classroom of people learning all at the same time made for a far better experience than other online courses.
The most valuable thing I gained from this course was the belief that making a well-paying career out of this was actually possible. I’ve put in a lot of work to try to make that psychological shift. Going through Escape Velocity helped me finally succeed in changing that belief. I’ve actually raised my prices in my other field as a result.
Also, having a network is paramount; having people who truly understand what you’re going through and what your daily day is like makes all the difference. Having people around you who get it is irreplaceable. Thank you for being such amazing coaches and teachers. I’m excited to see how we all continue to evolve over the rest of the year!"
-Atalia Von Holzlein
"My biggest takeaway from Escape Velocity is how to write these copywriting “money skills” It’s less daunting than a sales page, much easier to specialize, and the perfect step-one service to offer clients. Before EV I didn’t know much about the money skills, but now I enjoy writing them! I also now stay consistent with publishing authority content every week and writing copy every day. EV showed me how important it is to “put in the reps” and not just stay in the knowledge and learning phase."
-Alex Ko, Copywriter for The Motley Fool
"Final update after Escape Velocity – the client deal is finalized. Escape Velocity achieved!"
-William Metzger, Managing Editor and Lead Copywriter at Vox Media
"Here’s what I took away from Escape Velocity:
1. Consistency/process is the key to getting Momentum.
With limited time and energy, 30 minutes in the calendar beats random motivation every time (duh!). Escape Velocity has forced me to figure my process out.
2. The power of the right people/community.
Before EV, I was too scared to ask questions or comment on anything in the forum. I've done a lot of the training but never posted any work for critique.
Well after watching fellow Escape Velocity members, Rachel, and Kevin in action, my perspective has changed. I've realized that engaging with the right people and getting useful feedback can be like steroids for your skills and momentum. Moving forward I will be engaging way more in the Copychief community, even as a total beginner!
3. Backstage Pricing and confidence.
What happens if they don't want your package of 5 ads? Or the projects shifts from email to facebook? How do you price it out and have the confidence to stick with your numbers? Backstage pricing has given me the framework to figure out the right pricing even if the clients needs shift. It's also given me the ability to have confidence in the pitch.
Thank you for this amazing program! Looking forward to going through it again, and again, and again!"
